GRAY TREEFROGSCope's Gray Treefrog (Hyla chrysoscelis) Call Common Gray Treefrog (Hyla versicolor) Call
Virtually identical in appearance Cope's gray treefrog and the common gray treefrog may be distinguished by their calls which differ in pitch and frequency. The common gray treefrog, or simply gray treefrog (since it is definitely the less common of the two), has the slower, lower-pitched trill of the two species. Cope?s gray treefrog gives a higher-pitched and faster trill which sounds like a short blast on a police whistle. Both species may be found statewide and are spring and summer callers. The barking call in the background is a bronze frog. |
