ANIMAL FISHING PROGRAMS >> FINFISHSTRIPED MULLET
Click here to view the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission Management Plan for Striped Mullet The two distinct dorsal fins, with the first only having four spines and no soft rays and tiny nearly invisible teeth sets mullets apart from other fish families in the Gulf. The body is silvery, with a blue back and dark longitudinal lines on the side. There is a blue spot at the base of the pectoral fin. The pigment in the iris is more dispersed and more brownish than the white mullet. It is one of the Gulf's most abundant fish, which is frequently found in large schools. |
