About the Trip Ticket Program

An individual possessing a Wholesale/Retail Seafood Dealer License, Fresh Products License, or Crab Shedders License is required by law to report sales to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Trip Ticket Program. These individuals participate in a short training session which covers reporting requirements and proper procedures for filling out trip tickets, monthly submission sheets, and crab shedder sheets.

The Department provides all trip ticket forms, monthly submission sheets, and crab shedder sheets to these dealers at no cost, but obtaining these forms is the responsibility of the individual dealer. Trip tickets are assigned to a dealer and cannot be shared. Because it is the legal responsibility of the dealer to report all transactions, they should not wait until they run out of forms before requesting new forms. We recommend a six--month supply of forms. All trip ticket forms and monthly submission sheets must be submitted in their original form, completed in blue or black ink. The Department cannot accept copies.

To request more forms, a dealer can contact the Department at (225) 763-3588 during regular working hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm). If help or other information is needed on how to fill out the forms, a dealer can contact the Department at (225) 765-2399 during regular working hours. Trip ticket forms and monthly submission sheets are due by the 10th of the month for the preceding month and should be sent to:

Electronic Trip Ticket Program 

The Department also makes available, at no cost, a computerized trip ticket data entry software to wholesale/retail seafood dealers. The electronic trip ticket program has many benefits. It completely replaces the paper ticket system, electronically collects and sends all information required by the state, tracks all monies owed and paid to fishermen, tracks deductions, generates reports, prints checks, and exports data. The dealer must still mail the Department a copy of the monthly submission sheet generated by the electronic program and a completed electronic signature log by the 10th of the month for the preceding month.
