Women’s Fishing Workshops

Every year, LDWF partners with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation to present two Women’s Fishing 101 Workshops.  These workshops are open to all women over the age of 18 who are interested in learning about fishing and Louisiana’s aquatic resources.  The goal of these workshops is to give women the opportunity to become knowledgeable, confident anglers who enjoy and protect the beautiful fisheries Louisiana has to offer.

Whether you haven’t cast a line in 20 years or it’s something you’ve never done before, these workshops are for you.  Lead by LDWF biologists and aquatic volunteer instructors, the workshops cover a variety of topics and teach numerous skills to help make fishing more enjoyable for everyone.  Some of the topics include fish identification, best fish handling practices, preparing fishing equipment, and basic fishing skills, as well as cleaning, storing, and cooking fish.

Some of the participants in each workshop will also get the chance to apply their newly learned skills on an overnight weekend fishing trip under the direction of LDWF biologists and volunteer instructors.
