COLORADO MAN CITED FOR D.W.I. ON LAKE FAUSSE

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents cited a Colorado man at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in Iberia Parish for allegedly operating a watercraft while intoxicated, recklessly operating a watercraft, and failing to comply with a no wake zone on Feb. 21.


Agents who were responding to a boating accident found that John Blitch, 45, had collided with a pier while operating his personal watercraft, sustaining a broken leg, cuts and bruises.  He was transported to a Lafayette hospital and treated.  Further investigation resulted in the above citations.


The violation of operating a watercraft while intoxicated carries a fine between $300 and $1,000 and imprisonment between 10 days and six months.  Reckless operation of a watercraft carries a fine up to $500, or jail time up to 90 days, or both plus court costs.  Failure to comply with no wake zones carries a $50 fine. 


Agents participating in the case were Sgt. Mitchell Darby, Sgt. James Rhodes and Senior Agent Donnie Bozeman.
