The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will hold alligator hunts that go to the highest bidders during the 2006 alligator season on the Dewey Wills Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Lasalle Parish.
LDWF will select the winners based on the highest percentage of the alligator hide and meat income the hunter is willing to return to the department. The highest bidders will each receive 25 alligator tags.
Applications can be downloaded from LDWF's Web site at www.wlf.louisiana.gov. To access the application, drag the cursor over the "Hunting" dropdown menu and then highlight the "WMAs/Refuges" link. Then select "Lottery Hunts." At the bottom of the page is a PDF version of the application.
Bids are due by 10 a.m. on Aug. 3. Applications can be mailed to LDWF, Alligator Hunting on Dewey Wills WMA, P.O. Box 98000, Baton Rouge, LA 70898-9000.
