MEDIA ADVISORY: LDWF FISH STOCKING PLANNED FOR OCT. 2

WHO:  Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries

WHAT:  The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will stock up to 30,000 channel catfish fingerlings measuring 6 to 8 inches in the Amite River.  The stocking is part of a hurricane recovery plan, dubbed Operation Jump Start, currently being implemented by the LDWF Inland Fisheries Division.

WHEN:  Monday, Oct. 2, 2006 between noon and 2 p.m.  Interested media should call LDWF fisheries biologist Mark Lawson at (225) 939-2101 the morning of Oct. 2 for a definite time.

WHERE: Port Vincent, La. junction of Hwy. 42 and the Amite River at Freds on the River
