The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Inland Fisheries Division will hold a public meeting on April 26, 2007 at 6 p.m. in Marksville to discuss the heavy amount of aquatic vegetation (hydrilla) that continues to infest many of the shallow lakes and coves throughout the Spring Bayou complex. Control plans and methods will be presented, which involves drawdowns and possible herbicide applications.
All interested parties are welcome to attend the meeting and will have a chance for public input. The meeting will take place at 512 North Main Street in Marksville at the Fire Station meeting room.
Spring Bayou complex is located four miles east of Marksville in Avoyelles Parish. This backwater system encompasses approximately 2,718 acres.
