The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission amended a notice of intent regarding activities on the White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area (WLWCA) at their June 7 meeting.
The proposed changes to the notice of intent include:
Commissioners and their immediate family will be prohibited from participating in consumptive activities on the WLWCA, including fishing and hunting lotteries.
When a state, federal or local agency or university conducts research or educational activities in cooperation with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), or conducts activities of benefit to White Lake or LDWF, the cost to use the property may be waived.
A prohibition against political fundraisers on the property.
A clause that states LDWF shall determine appropriate insurance or indemnity requirements for use of the facilities.
Proposed rules in the original notice of intent include a wild alligator harvest conducted during the regular LDWF-scheduled alligator season by competitive bid. WLWCA would also allow alligator egg collection by public bid.
WLWCA would hold teal lottery hunts during the scheduled waterfowl season. Hunters selected through the lottery would pay $100 per gun. A youth and physically challenged waterfowl hunt on the first weekend of waterfowl season would be provided by LDWF at no cost to the hunters.
Marsh lottery hunts and rice lottery hunts during the regular hunting season would be provided for $150 per gun. Group hunts during the regular season would cost $25,000 per group.
Fishing opportunities from March 15 to August 15 would be provided for anglers with a $40 permit.
LDWF would allow group use of the facilities subject to facility and staff availability and other scheduled events. A schedule of fees for the public use of WLWCA facilities follows:
One-day use of the lodge for meetings of up to 15 people with nothing provided would cost $300.
One-day use of the lodge for meetings of up to 15 people with coffee, cold drinks and bottled water provided would cost $300 plus $10 per person.
One-day use of the lodge for meetings of up to 15 people with coffee, cold drinks, bottled water and lunch would cost $300 plus $20 per person. This does not include hot lunch.
Overnight use of the lodge with only linens provided would cost $400 plus $25 per person per night.
Overnight use of the lodge with coffee, cold drinks, bottled water and linens would cost $400 plus $35 per person per night.
Overnight use of the lodge with coffee, cold drinks, bottled water, linens and three meals a day would cost $900 plus $35 per person per night.
Skeet range usage in conjunction with overnight use of the facility would cost $10 per person for 25 clay pigeons or $15 per person for 25 clay pigeons and 25 shotgun shells.
Boat tours for authorized function attendees would be conducted for $10 per person per ride.
