WILD-CAUGHT CRAWFISH TASK FORCE TO MEET

The Wild-Caught Crawfish Task Force will meet on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 9 a.m.  The meeting will be held in the Louisiana Room of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Building located at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge. 


The task force was established within LDWF by House Concurrent Resolution No. 85, authored by Representatives Jack Smith and Karen St. Germain.  The purpose of the task force is to advise LDWF on matters pertaining to the management, marketing and development of the wild-caught crawfish industry in Louisiana.
   
Agenda items will include a talk by a State Attorney General's office representative concerning landowner rights as they relate to fishing on flooded private property and an update on White Spot Syndrome Virus in crawfish presented by Dr. Robert Romaire from the LSU AgCenter.  Also, the status of the crawfish management plan will be updated.
