The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has scheduled an additional crawfish fisheries meeting to present information on the federal fisheries disaster assistance program.
The crawfish meeting is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. at LDWF headquarters located at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge.
Funding for a federal fisheries disaster assistance program, aimed at directly assisting fishing industry participants, has been sought by Louisiana fishing industry leaders, Gov. Kathleen Blanco and the Louisiana congressional delegation as part of the recovery funding package following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
LDWF is meeting with individual fishery sectors and fishery organizations, representatives and stakeholders to provide information on authorized uses of these funds and to gather input on allocation and distribution options.
The agenda will include a welcome followed by introductions, LDWF presentations on the federal fisheries disaster assistance program and allocation and distribution options and to conclude with public input.
