LOUISIANA FRESHWATER RECREATIONAL FISHING TASK FORCE TO MEET

The inaugural meeting of the Louisiana Recreational Freshwater Fishing Task Force is scheduled for 9 a.m., Tuesday Oct. 23, at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries main office located at 2000 Quail Dr in Baton Rouge.
 
The goal of the task force, which was established by House Concurrent Resolution 265 of the 2007 Legislative session, is to advise the department, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission and the Louisiana Legislature on matters pertaining to the management, development and promotion of the freshwater recreational fishing industry in Louisiana.


Issues identified by the legislature to be addressed by the task force include recreational fishing access and opportunity, improving communications between the users of the resource and the department, water body restoration as well as providing advice on new water body development to improve fisheries.  All of these issues are designed to improve the freshwater recreational fishing industry.
