The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is partnering with the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) as an exhibitor in their Take Me Fishing Center at the 2008 New Orleans Boat Show.
The center features interactive and hands-on activities, presentations and demonstrations that provide the know-how to get started or improve fishing skills. The expo takes place from Jan. 9-13 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
The Take Me Fishing Center is divided into four stations and LDWF will be featured in the local fishing area. The LDWF Public Information Office will provide information about where to fish and the newest fishing regulations. In addition, Internet stations will be setup to allow patrons to purchase their fishing licenses at the show. The LDWF Enforcement Division will also have agents on hand to answer questions and showcase their new emergency response vehicle.
The center's display area will feature video monitors highlighting the fishing and boating lifestyle and new product information as well as interactive kiosks that will identify fish types, local activities, clubs, fishing-related opportunities, and information on aquatic stewardship.
Other highlights of the center include a casting pond with professional and collegiate anglers providing guidance and instruction, a fishing simulator where attendees can catch "virtual" fresh and salt water fish, a 40 foot aquarium stocked with local fish species, and seminars on how to use different lures.
