The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission voted unanimously to name Patrick Morrow the chairman of the commission for 2008 at their Jan. 9 meeting. Robert Samanie was elected unanimously as vice-chairman.
Morrow, who resides in Opelousas, replaces the outgoing chairman, Earl King. During 2007, Morrow served as vice-chairman of the commission.
When asked about his motivation for serving on the commission, Morrow said, " I have been an avid hunter and fisherman all of my life and want to ensure that our wildlife and aquatic life - our renewable resources - will be available to all future generations."
Morrow explained he thought it was imperative that Louisiana's bountiful resources be protected using state-of-the-art equipment and management technology.
