The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission voted unanimously to name Patrick Morrow the chairman of the commission for 2008 at their Jan. 9 meeting. Robert Samanie was elected unanimously as vice-chairman.
Morrow, who resides in Opelousas, replaces the outgoing chairman, Earl King. During 2007, Morrow served as vice-chairman of the commission.
When asked about his motivation for serving on the commission, Morrow said, "I have been an avid hunter and fisherman all of my life and want to ensure that our wildlife and aquatic life - our renewable resources - will be available to all future generations."
Morrow explained he thought it was imperative that Louisiana's bountiful resources be protected using state-of-the-art equipment and management technology.
