The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission adopted two notices of intent to change the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) and Landowner Antlerless Deer Tag Program (LADT).
For both DMAP and LADT, a proposed change would be to not count antlerless deer harvested on DMAP and LADT enrolled property in the daily limit for hunters. The current rule states that antlerless deer harvested on DMAP and LADT enrolled property do not count against season bag limits.
The DMAP notice of intent would allow LDWF to issue special antlered deer tags on DMAP enrolled property to increase the antlered deer harvest if a regional or deer program biologist deems it necessary for herd health or habitat management purposes. DMAP tagged antlered deer would not count in the daily or season bag limits.
Public comment on these notices of intent can be submitted to Scott Durham, Wildlife Division, LDWF, PO Box 98000, Baton Rouge, LA 70898-9000 no later than April 3.
