LOUISIANA CRAB TASK FORCE TO MEET

The Louisiana Crab Task Force will meet on Wednesday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the Louisiana Room of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) building in Baton Rouge, announced Chairman Peter Peterson.


The Crab Task Force is an industry advisory group comprised of fishermen, soft crab shedders, and crab dealers and processors, as well as state agency and university representatives. 


The task force, established by Act No. 57 of the 2001 regular legislative session, advises LDWF and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission on matters pertaining to the management and development of the Louisiana crab industry. 


Agenda items will include: proposed out-of-state crab shipping endorsement legislation; crab education day for members of the state legislature; crab marketing and promotion efforts; and, update on fisheries disaster assistance and economic assistance programs.
