FLOODING CAUSES MORE ROAD CLOSURES ON GRASSY LAKE W.M.A.

Release Date: 04/01/2008

Due to rising floodwaters from the Red River, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed two more roads on the Grassy Lake Wildlife Management Area.

LDWF closed Murphy's Ditch crossing near Red River Bay and Bayou des Sot Bridge east to Smith Bay temporarily beginning April 1.  Those closings have been added to the previous closing of Cascas Road, also known as the Grand Lake Road, which was closed March 26.  These three roads will reopen after the floodwater recedes.

Flood waters are monitored daily and additional closures may be needed prior to the river's crest.

The current WMA turkey season will remain open through April 6, but vehicle access may be restricted due to road closures.
