DISTRICT ATTORNEY OFFICE DONATES BOAT MOTOR TO L.D.W.F.

Release Date: 04/07/2008

The Office of District Attorney J. Phil Haney of the 16th Judicial District donated a Pro-Drive shallow water outboard motor to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division's Region 6-B, which comprises Iberia and Upper St. Martin Parishes.

In making the donation, Haney's office coordinated with local agents and identified needs that are pertinent to daily operational requirements. The agents chose to receive a shallow water outboard motor due to its ability to reach swamp areas in the Atchafalaya Basin and enhance search and rescue efforts.

The Pro-Drive shallow water motor is comprised of a 32 horsepower outdrive motor with reverse kit and hydraulic trim rigging.

LDWF Enforcement Division Administrator Col. Winton Vidrine commended Haney's office for the donation.  "This is a fine example of the spirit of cooperation and team work we enjoy in Louisiana.  We work side by side with state prosecutors to protect our fish and wildlife resources," he said.
