BODCAU W.M.A. SHOOTING RANGE TO REOPEN JAN. 2, 2010

Release Date: 12/22/2009

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries shooting range on the Bodcau Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will reopen Saturday, Jan. 2 2010. Hours of operations at the site in Bossier Parish will be from Friday to Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The range has been closed since October due to road construction on the Bodcau dam. The range is free of charge and open to the public.

Facilities offered at the Bodcau WMA shooting range include a 12-bench rifle range with targets at 25 to 200 yards, a 16-station pistol range with 25 and 50-yard targets and a shotgun skeet station. LDWF provides target backs, targets, chairs, benches, sand bags and a manual skeet thrower. Skeet shooters must provide their own clay pigeons. Shooters must also provide their own eye and ear protection, which must be worn.

Shooters can get to the range by driving north on LA Hwy. 157 from Interstate 20 for approximately 10 miles. At the community of Bellevue, turn east onto Bodcau Dam Road. Stay on Bodcau Dam Road for approximately three miles and cross the Bodcau Bayou dam and follow the signs to the range. A self-clearing permit station is located at the base of the dam next to the metal shop building.
