Merrydale Landing Road and Boat Ramp on Buckhorn WMA to be Closed October 19-20

Oct. 3, 2017 – Merrydale Landing Road along with the boat ramp at Merrydale Lake on Buckhorn Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will be closed to the public Oct. 19-20 for a Wetland Reserve Easement (WRE) Program Celebration that will be held on the property.
 
Portions of the WMA south of Highway 128 will be closed that week and will reopen Oct. 21.
 
The celebration will be held in conjunction with conservation partners from Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas to celebrate 25 years and 700,000 acres of Wetland Reserve success in the tri-state area. Conservation leaders from multiple agencies will be conducting tours highlighting WRE success and the benefits of the program. This is an invitation only event.

Buckhorn WMA consists of 11,121 acres in Tensas Parish, and is located approximately 14 miles west of St. Joseph, LA. Access routes include Louisiana Highway 4 and 128 and parish roads such as Clydesdale Road and Honeysuckle Lane.
