ELMER'S ISLAND TO REMAIN CLOSED

Rockefeller Canal at Sunrise 4 [3]

Aug. 31, 2012 [4] - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announces Elmer's Island, located on the southwestern tip of Jefferson Parish, will remain closed to the public until further notice.

The access road connecting La. Hwy. 1 to the refuge beach area has undergone significant damage as a result of Hurricane Isaac.
