CARES 2.0 Relief Funds - Applications Open August 9

LDWF will begin accepting applications for $12.4 million in financial assistance that will be available to Louisiana fishermen and others in the industry who have been financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline to submit applications is 11:59 pm on August 29.

Mandatory Hunter Education

To hunt in Louisiana, you must complete an LDWF-approved hunter education course and earn your Hunter Education Certification (exception for those born before September 1, 1969). We offer traditional classroom courses, an online course with an in-person field day, and an online only course (for those age 16 and older). View the schedule or register for a course.

Understanding the Upcoming Commercial and Recreational License Changes

LDWF is implementing a new fee structure for hunting and fishing licenses and boat registrations. The new fee structure streamlines the old process, reducing the number of licenses required for hunters and anglers.

LDWF Seeks Public Input on Draft Louisiana 2019 Flood Disaster Spend Plan

In 2019, major flooding impacted coastal resources, including oysters, shrimp, blue crab, and finfish, and the fishing industry in Louisiana. Louisiana will receive federal funding for this fisheries disaster once a spend plan on how to administer the funds is approved. LDWF has drafted a plan and is seeking feedback from the public. Comments are due August 15, 2021.
