LDWF has collected and maintains a long term database of environmental parameters associated with the marine and estuarine habitats in coastal Louisiana. This environmental data has been the result of many state and federal projects, some dating back 30 years. This database has been used for setting seasons on commercial fisheries, investigating occurrences of brown marsh, describing effects of storms, documenting land loss and salinity changes, qualifying commercial and recreational fisheries, and provided many before and after snapshots for coastal restoration projects in recent years.
