Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman

Recognizing that becoming a confident, independent outdoors person is a process that is developed over time, LDWF offers advanced hands-on outdoor educational workshops through Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman. These workshops provide participants an opportunity to practice and hone basic skills learned at a Becoming an Outdoors Woman weekend workshop in the real world, while still having supportive instructors on hand to coach and encourage them.

Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshops build on beginner skills, teach more advanced skills, and may be conducted almost entirely in an outdoors setting. These workshops may also focus on teaching a skill that takes more time than is available in a traditional Becoming an Outdoors Woman weekend workshop.

Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshops are for you if you are:

  • Interested in becoming more active in the outdoors
  • Looking for new outdoor experiences
  • A graduate from Becoming an Outdoors Woman looking for the next step in learning
  • An intermediate or advanced outdoors woman who enjoys the camaraderie of like-minded individuals.

Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman is designed for small groups. Smaller groups enable us to give greater one-on-one attention and instruction that fulfills the needs of safety, education, and personal assurance in a non-threatening environment.

You must apply to participate in a Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop. Participants are randomly chosen from the applications received. Fees are not collected until the participant is notified of acceptance.

Past Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshops have included: Deer Hunt, Rabbit Hunt, Squirrel Hunt, Woodcock Hunt, 3-D Archery, Advanced Shotgun and Rifle, Saltwater Fishing, and Crappie Fishing.
