The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF) has announced the cancellation of its 2021 Wild Night Fundraiser. The LAWFF said it canceled the event due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Louisiana and the recent impacts to many regions from Hurricane Ida.

Recreational Red Grouper Season to Close September 15
Today, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced that the season for the recreational harvest of red grouper will close in Louisiana waters at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. The season is currently scheduled to re-open on January 1, 2022.
Recreational Gray Triggerfish Season to Close September 15
Today, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced that the season for the recreational harvest of gray triggerfish will close in Louisiana waters at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. The season is currently scheduled to re-open on March 1, 2022.

LDWF Reminds Public to Be Aware of Displaced Wildlife From Storm, Including Marine Mammals and Sea Turtles
In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, wildlife species may be displaced into inappropriate or marginal habitats, often in areas with which they may not be familiar. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) urges the public to be especially cognizant of wildlife forced into populated areas by floodwater from the storm.
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission September Meeting has been Cancelled
Due to Hurricane Ida's significant impact on Louisiana and the ongoing response effort, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission has cancelled its September meeting. The Commission will reconvene at the regularly scheduled meeting on October 7.
