Description
Smallest sea duck. Males dark back, white flanks and chest, gray bill, white posterior portion of head. The rest of the head is iridescent green-purple-maroon, pink feet. Females are generally gray with white spots extending posteriorly from the eye, but not all the way to the back of the head, and gray feet.
Range and Habitat
Cavity nesting duck extending from Alaska across boreal & parkland of Canada. Winters in the southern US & coastal regions of the Gulf, Atlantic & Pacific.

Hunting License Information
Basic hunting license or equivalent combination license (Sportsman Paradise). Waterfowl, HIP certification (18 years old and older). Federal Duck Stamp (16 years old and older) signed across the face, if hunting WMA then WMA Access Permit.
