Description
A tiny, free-floating fern made up of just a few small leaves covered with stiff leaf hairs. A small tuft of root-like hairs hangs in the water and absorbs nutrients. Does not flower.
Habitat and Range
Originally from South and Central America. Lives in warm freshwater areas across Louisiana.
Behavior
Can multiply quickly, clogging waterways and shading out native species of plants. It is pushed by wind or currents and can come and go in a particular area.
