Public description – Get outside and explore with LDWF! Join LDWF staff and experienced volunteers for a hands-on morning of learning the basics of birdwatching, paddling, and outdoor safety. Participants must be 18 or older. From 7:30 a.m. to noon, participants will rotate through guided activities designed to build confidence and get you comfortable enjoying Louisiana’s outdoors. Paddle the refuge’s ponds, explore nature trails while learning to identify birds, and pick up essential outdoor adventuring safety tips. Whether you’re brand new or just looking to brush up on your skills, this debut Geaux Play Outdoors 101 series is a great way to get started. What to bring: • Comfortable clothing for outdoor activity • Closed-toe shoes you don’t mind getting wet • Water and light snacks • Insect repellent (recommended) • Optional: LDWF will provide binoculars and lifejackets, but feel free to bring your own if you’d prefer.
