Where to Hunt and Additional Hunting Opportunities in Louisiana
Crow, Pheasant, Falconry and Shooting Preserves
There are other resident game birds that can be harvested in Louisiana, including crows and pheasants. Louisiana allows the take of crows from September 1 through January 1 with no daily limit. Take of pheasant is permitted during quail season.
Falconry
The sport of falconry involves hunting small game with a raptor. Falconry is an active sport—falconers must monitor and follow the raptor they fly, which requires a certain level of athleticism and endurance. To practice falconry in Louisiana, you must have a Game Breeder’s License for Falconry (Falconry License) from LDWF and a current, valid LDWF hunting license. (Falconry licenses will not be issued for pets or the pet trade/industry).
Hunting and Shooting Preserves in Louisiana
Shooting preserves are licensed areas of private land where pen-raised game birds (like pheasant, quail, chukar) and sometimes other wildlife are released for hunting, often for a fee and more controlled hunting experiences.
