Scholastic Clay Target Program
The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is the nation's largest and fastest-growing youth clay target shooting program, offering students from elementary school through college the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in a safe, supportive environment. Participants can develop their skills in trap, skeet, and sporting clays, while building confidence and enjoying the excitement of competitive shooting.
More than a shooting sports program, SCTP is dedicated to developing tomorrow's leaders. Through an emphasis on firearm safety, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal responsibility, the program helps young people build lifelong skills both on and off the range. Whether a participant's goal is recreational shooting, competitive success, or simply learning a new outdoor activity, SCTP provides opportunities for youth of all experience levels to grow and succeed.
SCTP is the official feeder program to USA Shooting and a path to the U.S. Olympic Shooting Team.

How to Start an SCTP Program
Step 1
It starts with a person volunteering to serve as head coach, plus at least one student-athlete.
Step 2
The head coach must be at least 21 years, pass a background check, take an online coach’s course.
Step 3
The head coach then goes to our website to register the team. The coach can register at this link and pay a small fee.
Insurance
The SSSF offers a $10,000,000 umbrella liability policy for its officially registered athletes at only $30 each per year for student-athletes and $40 each for coaches.
Tournaments
The SCTP provides state, regional, and national championship tournaments for its athletes.

SCTP has American skeet, trap, and sporting clays teams, as well as international skeet, double trap, and bunker trap.

No, school affiliation is not required, but it is a good way to tie your team to the community and possibly have some additional community support.
All school-age boys and girls in grades 12 and under with the physical, mental, and emotional maturity to participate in a team sport are eligible to participate in the SCTP. Collegiate shooters must be enrolled as a full-time student in college and are eligible through the shooting season of their 25th birthday.
You can have as few as one student-athlete and as many as you can gather! There is no limit.
