Make a Difference for Louisiana’s Wildlife — Volunteer with LDWF!
Volunteers play a vital role in the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries’ mission.
They contribute their time, skills, and passion to help conserve our state’s wildlife and wild places — from assisting with habitat restoration and research to supporting education and outreach efforts. We’re now building a more formal, streamlined process to connect people with volunteer opportunities that align with their availability, skills, and interests. Our new volunteer platform is coming soon!
In the meantime, click on the ‘Geaux Volunteer!’ button on this page to fill out a short survey and share your interests. Once the platform is ready, we’ll send you an email so you can get started.
Volunteer Opportunities
As a volunteer with LDWF, you can choose from a variety of commitment levels, settings, and ways to get involved—whether you enjoy teaching, representing our agency publicly, or hands-on fieldwork. There’s something for everyone, no matter your comfort level or experience.

Your Impact Matters
Did you know that every hour you volunteer with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries does more than help support conservation activities directly? It also helps us unlock vital federal funding. Many of the federal grants that LDWF receives require matching contributions, and your volunteer hours can be counted as a valuable non-cash matching contribution. This means the time you give allows us to secure more resources for conservation, habitat restoration, research, and outdoor programs. Simply put: your time multiplies our impact for and conservation of Louisiana’s beautiful natural resources.
