The Honey Island Shooting Range at Pearl River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will remain closed until further notice due to damage to the access bridge, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced.

The bridge sustained damage in two recent flood events. An engineering inspection of the structure revealed additional damage from the most recent flood event, necessitating closing the bridge to public access. LDWF, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and SouthEast Louisiana Firearms Safety Inc. (SELFS) are working cooperatively to conduct repairs to this structure as soon as possible.

Once repairs are completed, the range will be reopened with limited public access and special restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
