The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed Sandy Bayou Road and the portion of Muddy Bayou Road west of the intersection of Nolan Bayou Road on Dewey W. Wills Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Users may still access these closed roads with ATV/UTVs.
Increasing water levels in the Mississippi, Black and associated river systems have created backwater flooding in these areas. Once the water recedes and conditions allow, the roads will be reopened.
Dewey W. Wills WMA is located in the southern portion of LaSalle and Catahoula parishes in central Louisiana, approximately 20 miles northeast of Alexandria.
Available game species on Dewey W. Wills WMA include deer, squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, waterfowl and woodcock.
All visitors to Dewey W. Wills WMA and all LDWF WMAs must have either a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise License, or Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License.
