Hunter Ed Instructor Class - East Baton Rouge

Courses are taught by LDWF Education Program staff and volunteer instructors. The majority of courses are taught by volunteers who donate their time to teach hunter education. Volunteers undergo background checks and receive training and oversight from LDWF staff. Requirements for Becoming a Hunter Education Instructor • Be of reputable character • Attend a 12 hour instructor training course • Complete livefire exercises • Pass a written exam • Undergo a criminal background check • Teach or assist in teaching one course every 24 months.

Hunter Ed. Instructor Course Registration and Participation Guidelines: This course is designed specifically for the training of Hunter Education Instructors and is NOT INTENDED FOR INDIVIDUALS SEEKING ONLY A BASIC HUNTER EDUCATION CERTIFICATION. Account Registration: All participants must register using their own individual accounts. Firearms and Course Materials: Students are strictly prohibited from bringing firearms to the course. All necessary firearms and instructional materials will be provided on site by the instructors. Course Format: This is a comprehensive, in-person training course and is not applicable toward satisfying the field day requirement associated with the online course option. Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible for certification. Meals and Breaks: There will be with food being provided. Participants are advised to bring their own food, snacks, and beverages (water is available on site), in case of any allergies and should plan accordingly. Attendance Policy: Full attendance is mandatory. Students must remain on site for the entire duration of the course. Departures for any reason—including, but not limited to, medical appointments—will result in disqualification from course completion. Affected students will be required to register for and attend a future session in full.
