Boater Ed Class - Calcasieu

This free boating course usually lasts between 6 and 8 hours. Participants usually complete the course in one day. The course includes information on choosing a boat, classification, hulls, motors, legal and equipment requirements, navigation rules, navigation charts, trailering, sailboats, and related subjects that include canoeing, personal watercraft and more. Participants who complete the course will receive a Boater Education Certificate.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will offer a free, in-person boater education course that satisfies boater education requirements. The course last between 6 and 8 hours and is usually completed in a day. CPSO Deputies teach the course, which includes information on choosing a boat, classification, hulls, motors, legal and equipment requirements, navigation rules, navigation charts, trailering, sailboats, canoeing, personal watercraft, and more. You must receive a score of 70% or more to pass the course. In addition, disruptive behavior or not attending the entire course may cause you to fail. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED
