This 2-hour course will be geared towards both beginner and experienced anglers looking to gain of information specific to targeting various small fish species using lightweight tackle. Participants will learn how to use unique gear and tackle including canepoles, ultralight combos, micro soft plastics, and drop shot rigs. This will be followed an hour of fishing with LDWF biologists and volunteers. It is suggested participants have already taken Intro to Fishing or have a basic knowledge of fishing. A valid Louisiana fishing license is required for participants 18 years and older, and participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. This is a limited FCS course and will only be offered 2 to 4 times per year.

Special Instructions

Participants should bring plenty of water, a valid LA fishing license for those 18 & older, and dress appropriately for the weather. Camping chairs are also encouraged in case seating is limited. Fishing gear will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own to learn how to use it for future use. This program may be affected by inclement weather conditions. In such cases, the instructor will notify you as soon as possible.
