This free boating course usually lasts between 6 and 8 hours. Participants usually complete the course in one day. The course includes information on choosing a boat, classification, hulls, motors, legal and equipment requirements, navigation rules, navigation charts, trailering, sailboats, and related subjects that include canoeing, personal watercraft and more. Participants who complete the course will receive a Boater Education Certificate.

Lake Pontchartrain Sail and Power Squadron will teach the Americas Boating Club Safe Boating Course - a NASBLA course endorsed by the Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries to obtain the Louisiana Safe Boating Permit. The 8hr Course will be held 28 June starting 8a at Pontchartrain Yacht Club in Mandeville. Students should bring lunch and snacks and/or participate in take out/ delivery lunch for purchase.
