This free boating course usually lasts between 6 and 8 hours. Participants usually complete the course in one day. The course includes information on choosing a boat, classification, hulls, motors, legal and equipment requirements, navigation rules, navigation charts, trailering, sailboats, and related subjects that include canoeing, personal watercraft and more. Participants who complete the course will receive a Boater Education Certificate.

BOATING EDUCATION LAGUIAPPE DAY! Sponsors for this course are: The Tammany Yacht Club, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association, and several local businesses. Tammany Yacht Club will be providing a hamburger and hotdog lunch during a one-hour break period. This NASBLA course is required by law to be taken by any individual, born after January 1, 1984, operating a boat on Louisiana public waterways. A permanent certification will be emailed after the successful completion of the course.
