This 2-hour course will be geared towards both beginners and rusty anglers looking to gain enough knowledge to confidently fish on their own. Participants will learn core fishing skills including simple but versatile rigging, bait, and gear selection, followed by an hour of fishing with LDWF staff. A valid Louisiana fishing license is required for participants 18 years and older, and participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Special Instructions

This event is open to a Parent & up to 2 children. Children must be 10 or older to attend. Participants should bring plenty of water and dress appropriately for the weather. This event will be held on Free Fishing Weekend, so a fishing license is not required for the June 6th course. Indoor seating will be provided but camping chairs are encouraged in case of sitting outdoors. Fishing gear will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own to learn how to use for future use. This program may be affected by inclement weather conditions. In such cases, the instructor will notify you as soon as possible.
