Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents cited three subjects for alleged hunting violations on Nov. 26 in Tangipahoa Parish.

Agents cited Mason Sibley, 22, of Pine Grove, Thomas Arnold, 23, of Denham Springs, and Haley Owens, 21, of Greensburg, for failing to abide by regulations on a Wildlife Management Area (WMA).

Agents were on patrol on Nov. 26 when they observed two trucks parked by the entrance of the Joyce WMA.  One of the trucks had an open dog kennel and pirogue rack.

Agents then observed the three subjects actively waterfowl hunting within the WMA.  When the subjects returned to their trucks, agents made contact and found them in possession of nine ducks, two hooded mergansers and two coots.

The Joyce WMA was closed to waterfowl hunting from Nov. 24-26.  Agents seized the 13 migratory birds and donated them to a local charity.

Failing to abide by WMA regulations brings up to a $350 fine.  The subjects may also face civil restitution totaling up to $322 for the replacement value of the illegally taken migratory birds.

Agents participating in the case are Agent Jimmie Daniel and Sgt. Thomas Wolf.
