A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agent cited a Chalmette man for an alleged littering violation in Orleans Parish on Sept. 11.

LDWF Senior Agent Salvador Mangano cited Daniel Garcia, 21, for gross littering.

Senior Agent Mangano was on patrol on Sept. 8 in Orleans Parish when he located a large pile of litter near the intersection of Hwy. 11 and Chef Menteur Hwy.

After further investigation, Senior Agent Mangano was able to trace the litter pile to an address and he was able to talk to the owner of the property.  The owner told Senior Agent Mangano that he paid Garcia to remove the trash from the property.

Senior Agent Mangano then made contact with Garcia on Sept. 11 and he admitted to being paid to remove and dispose of the trash.  He then dumped it on the side of the road.

Gross littering carries up to a $900 fine, up to 30 days in jail and 16 hours of community service in a litter abatement program.
