The original boat launch located on the Diversion Canal at Dewey W. Wills Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is closed, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced. The launch has experienced permanent damage due to severe erosion and is unsafe for use.

The secondary launch at that location remains open. Hunters can also access the Little River Basin (formerly Catahoula Lake) via the public boat launches at Stock Landing, French Fork and Old River.

Dewey W. Wills WMA is located in the southern portion of LaSalle and Catahoula parishes in central Louisiana approximately 20 miles northeast of Alexandria. For more information on the WMA, go to https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/dewey-w-wills.
