Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) agents cited a Greenwell Springs man for alleged Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and littering violations in Pointe Coupee Parish on Sept. 26.
Agents cited Richard J. St. Pierre Jr., 18, for baiting deer and intentional littering on the Sherburne WMA.
Agents discovered deer corn and an empty 50-pound bag of corn on Aug. 1 on the Sherburne WMA. Agents also documented the placing of bait on four other dates since Aug. 1 along with the empty corn bags and a fast-food bag and cup.
On Sept. 26, agents observed Pierre Jr. in the act of placing bait and littering in the same location as previously documented.
Placing bait on a WMA brings a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail. Intentional littering carries up to a $500 fine and eight hours of community service in a litter abatement work program as approved by the court.
Sgt. Cliff Ortis and Senior Agent Russell Marbury are participating in the case.
