The Lake Providence Rotary Club will host an informational meeting in partnership with the Lake Providence Watershed Council (LPWC) at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

The LPWC was created in 2015 by the Louisiana Legislature to make recommendations on improving the aquatic health of Lake Providence in East Carroll Parish.  The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries serves as the chair of the LPWC.

This meeting will include a presentation from Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) entitled “The River and the Why: How Do Rivers Work?” and will focus on nature based solutions (NBS) to problems such as increased flooding, poor water quality, and loss of quality aquatic habitat.

The public is encouraged to attend this informational meeting to learn more about implementing NBS as a response to water-management issues. The meeting will be held at the Lake Providence Country Club, 190 La. Highway 134 in Lake Providence, Louisiana.
