The Louisiana Operation Game Thief (LOGT) Board of Directors held a meeting Feb. 7 in Baton Rouge.

LOGT is an effective wildlife crime-stopper program focused on preserving and conserving Louisiana’s natural resources. LOGT, which was created in 1984, collaborates with the LDWF Enforcement Division and the citizens of Louisiana to combat illegal hunting, fishing or other wildlife related offenses.

At the meeting, the LOGT board reviewed 23 cases that included public tips and awarded $8,300 to the informants. A total of 40 subjects were apprehended and 94 citations were written in regards to the reviewed cases.

The cases reviewed and awarded money to the public for their assistance consisted of deer, migratory game bird, and small game cases.

If a citizen has information concerning a violation, they can confidentially and anonymously call the Operation Game Thief toll-free, 24-hour line at 1-800-442-2511. If the information provided leads to an arrest or issuance of a citation for the violation, the individual could receive a reward of up to $1,000.

LOGT also awarded the outgoing LOGT President Kash Schriefer, a retired U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officer, a plaque for his dedication and work serving as the president of LOGT for the last 2 years. The LOGT Board elected retired Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Major Cliff Comeaux as the new LOGT president for the next two years.
