Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents arrested a Luling man for allegedly operating or driving a boat while intoxicated (DWI) in Bayou Des Allemands on Nov. 30.
Agents arrested Leopold A. Larousse, 37, for DWI, and booked him into the St. Charles Parish Jail.
Agents were notified around 6 a.m. on Nov 30 about three subjects standing on the bank of Bayou Des Allemands next to their sunken mud boat and waving for help.
When agents arrived on scene they observed the operator, Larousse, showing signs of impairment. Larousse failed both the field sobriety test and breath alcohol tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI.
DWI brings a $300 to $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail. Further boating safety citations could be pending.
Agents participating in this case are Sgt. Austin Arteaga, Senior Agent Dean Aucion, Senior Agent Kyle Wagner and Agent Gary Levron.
