The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission adopted a Notice of Intent (NOI) to decrease the commercial trip limit of greater amberjack from 1,500 lbs to 1,000 lbs gutted weight. This action matches those taken by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries in federal waters.
Additionally, the NOI provides authority for the Secretary of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries to modify the trip limit if such a change is made in federal waters.
Interested persons may submit comments relative to the proposed rule to Jason Adriance, Fisheries Division, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, P.O. Box 98000, Baton Rouge, LA 70898-9000 or via email to email@example.com before August 6, 2020.
The commercial greater amberjack season opens January 1 and closes from March 1 through May 31. The season reopens on June 1 if quota is still available.
