A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent cited a Metairie man for alleged recreational fishing violations on Dec. 26 in St. Tammany Parish.

 

The agent cited Housiang Lin, age 66, for taking over the limit of black bass and taking game fish using illegal methods.

 

The agent was on patrol on Lake Road in Lacombe when he observed Lin throwing a cast net into the water.  The agent performed a license and creel check and found Lin in possession of 26 black bass and 10 perch.  The agent determined that all the fish were taken with the cast net.

 

The limit for black bass 10 per day per licensed fisherman.  Bass and perch are game fish and not allowed to be taken with the use of a net.

 

Possessing over the limit of black bass carries a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail.  Taking game fish using illegal methods brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.

 

The agent seized the fish.

 

Lin may be required to pay civil restitution totaling up to $358 for the replacement value of the illegally taken fish.
