The Nature Trail at Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area (WMA) has been closed due to flooding, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced. LDWF will inspect the trail once the water has receded and make necessary repairs before reopening.
The Pearl River WMA remains closed because of flooding. Once the Pearl River falls below 16.5 feet, the road and bridges will be inspected and any necessary repairs made before it is reopened.
Maurepas Swamp WMA, which consists of 122,098 acres, is located approximately 25 miles west of New Orleans and along the south shore of Lake Maurepas west to near Sorrento.
